What’s new
Xero’s connector for Claude, launched in May, gives Claude read-only access to your live Xero data. You can ask about profit, cash, overdue invoices or top customers, and Claude links back to the report, invoice or contact it used.
On 16 September, Xero’s plugin for ChatGPT went live. Xero also announced support for workflows in Anthropic’s Claude for Small Business, such as a business pulse, overdue invoice chasing, a cash flow snapshot and month-end preparation, which prepare draft work for you to review.
On 14 October, Xero launched a connected app for Google Gemini. It answers questions and draws charts from live data, and anything that changes your financial data, such as issuing an invoice or sending a payment reminder, needs your confirmation first. Scheduled tasks, such as a daily summary of bills and cash, are coming soon.
Who can use it
- You need an active Xero subscription.
- The Claude connector is free to add and works with free or paid Claude accounts. It is read-only at launch.
- Xero’s announcements for ChatGPT and Gemini don’t say which countries or plans are included, so check in your own account before planning around them.
- Accountants and bookkeepers can use the integrations one client organisation at a time. Switching between clients is being added.

- Answers are only as good as your books. Xero itself says the value depends on up-to-date, reconciled records.
- Treat the output as a first pass. Xero says it is not tax, compliance or financial advice and doesn’t replace your accountant or bookkeeper.
- Xero says your data is used only for the session and not to train AI models. That is the vendor’s statement, so read the terms before connecting client data.
- Check what each assistant can change. The Claude connector is read-only; in Gemini, actions such as issuing an invoice need your confirmation.
Our view: A low-cost way for owners to get answers from their books in seconds. Keep it to questions and drafts at first, have a person approve anything that goes to a customer, and make sure your books are reconciled before you rely on the numbers.
